Job Title: Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

As an Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of construction equipment. This includes changing oil, filters, checking fluid levels, greasing parts, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and making corrective repairs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative maintenance on construction equipment including forklifts, aerial equipment, and earthmoving machines.
• Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and make necessary repairs.
• Make hydraulic repairs, conduct equipment inspections, change cylinders, and replace parts.
• Utilize pneumatic tools for various maintenance tasks.
• Work on both rental fleet equipment and construction company-owned machinery.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in mechanical maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience with heavy equipment maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with electrical systems and hydraulics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
• Military or government experience is ideal.
• A clean DMV record is required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr.
